I was not aware that Newburgh had a famous hotdog place but after alittle research I couldnt believe how much publicity this place has got. All the major food blogs have talked about this place and the number of reviews online were over whelming. So i decided to stop by, it sure is close enough. Pete's is not located in the best part of Newburgh but apparently they have been here since before the Great Depression. They have 2 kinds of chili sauce and a few other toppings. Dogs are cheap $1.56 with your choice of 2 toppings (bacon, onions, kraut,cheese,sauce). They have no fries no burgers nothing. Just dogs, chips, and drinks. Small and cozy with a few tables. This was a great place for a quick lunch. Dog was good and chili wasn't bad. I may be more partial to Dallas in Kingston though but any connoisseur needs to change it up sometimes.

Rachel Ray picked this place as her home town favorite. Not alot of people know Rachel Ray is from up by Lake George and worked in Albany for years. So The Harvest Restaurant in Queensbury is her favorite pizza and favorite hometown food. Ill go and check it out. After almost a 2hrs drive we arrive. The best way for me to describe this place is like a diner with a full bar that makes pizzas. They only have one size pizza and it actually isn't very big. I was scared we might have to order 2 pizzas for 2 people. But I didn't realize their pizzas have the most topping Ive ever seen. This was super loaded up piled high. Rachel Ray has her own pizza on the menu called the Rachel Ray Pizza, but that was to plain for us. Her pizza consists of hot peppers, green peppers, and onions. So we got the Rachel Ray Pizza with meatballs, peperoni, and sausage. They call it the Harvest best pizza. Now although this isn't New York thin crust this was almost Chicago style. It had so much stuff it was deep like a pie. Totally delish as Rachel would say.

Who hasn't spent a summer weekend at the boardwalk? Any boardwalk wouldn't be complete without saltwater taffy! Well honestly I don't care for saltwater taffy at all. I wouldnt eat it even if it was handed to me for free, but I do love MACAROONS!!!! James' Candy is your typical salt water taffy boardwalk candy shop.  James' Candy actually invented salt water taffy in the 1800's. I saw these  guys on Unwrapped and they are famous for their macaroons. I have a coconut obsession so this was right up my alley. Ive since ordered 2 boxes of chocolate chip macaroons from this place to enjoy at home. They are really good and even better fresh at the boardwalk. James' Candy and Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy have locations all over New Jersey boardwalks up and down the coast, but their home base is in Atlantic City. Be sure to stop by for some hot macaroons!

I've seen this place on a few foodie shows and it seems that alot of people have heard of it. The name Cluck U is kinda cool and funny but then you learn its a chain and all the food is the same and frozen all over the country. This is basically Planet Wings. I am willing to bet they get their sauces and chicken from the same distributor as do most ghetto chicken wing places. The same sauce with a different name. Basically the same menu. So supposedly you need to sign a waiver to eat the hottest wings in the world and they are supposedly sooooo hooootttt!!!!! I got some Nuclear Fusion to go and bring home for my brother. They told me I didnt have to sign a waiver. I tried one hot and although they were so hot it hurt and they were totally unenjoyable or even uneatable, I have had hotter. If you're looking for some college frat boy make you go to the bathroom fried chicken wings in 25 different sauce in a to go box then this is the place.

This place is run down and kinda scary but that's where you get the best authentic Caribbean food. Located right next to Yankee Stadium the Feeding Tree has all your favorite carribean hits. Oxtale, curried goat, jerk chicken, jerk shrimp, cow hoof lol, whole red snapper, homemade ginger beer. They have a bunch of different lunch specials for $4.99. A great option for lunch before a Yankee game. $5 gets you a small platter of curry goat/jerk chicken/oxtail with rice, vegetables,  plantains, some cornbread and a lemonade. That is a great deal. The food itself is quite good and freshly prepared. The jerk chicken had good flavor not to hot and the rice and veggies were really freakin good. Most of it has a kick and is very flavor full. I love jerk chicken and cant really find the real authentic stuff I get in the islands anywhere. Well this is it. If you are in the area I highly recommend it.

Checked out Carlo's Bakery awhile ago, and have to say i was super disappointed. Maybe I'm just spoiled but this is a run of the mill, no better then average bakery. I can get better cannolis at my local grocery store (Adams) or at la Deliziosa in Poughkeepsie. Not to mention Stuffed in LES. Anyways Hoboken is the worst city I have ever driven in. It is easier to park in midtown Manhattan then in Hoboken. After all that we waited in line for about an hr and got some pastries and a cake. Everything was super lame. The cake was Hanaford at best. So just because something is on TV doesn't mean it tastes good. It was cool checking out a place I've seen on TV so many times but I wont be back New Jersey.

There is kind of a long story about my love affair with Zaro's. My wife's grandparents owned and operated the only privately owned Zaros in NY. All the Zaro's are owned by the same family but my wife's family were such good friends with them that they allowed them to open one. So my mother-in-law grew up in a Zaro's bakery. When ever we are in the city we usually stop by and get breakfast in grand central. 
Zaro's takes credit for inventing the black and white cookie. That's pretty crazy, I mean every bakery in America sells black and white cookies. But Zaro's was the first. Ive had a few, although they are good they aren't my favorite cookies. Zaro' s has locations all over the 5 boroughs so be sure to check out their website for locations. The easiest for me is right in grand central station. I believe there are at least 2 in grand central. It is a quick easy breakfast right off the train. They have all sorts of pastries and bagels. They are also known for their crusty breads. I will forever be connected to this bakery. Every time i see one i will think about my mother in law baking cookies.

Baby Cakes is a super cute bakery/cupcakery in the lower east side. Kind of a pinup 50's vibe. The staff was cute too which is always a plus.  Baby Cakes specializes in gluten free vegan baked goods and really caters to the people who have allergies to glutens. Everyone raged about how good the place was even though it was gluten free and that sometimes can taste not so good. So we picked up a few cupcakes to go. I really did want to love this place. I really did want to like gluten free cupcakes. But man was I wrong. I couldn't even finish my lemon cupcake HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! My friends couldn't finish theirs either. This cupcake tasted weird. I don't even know how to explain it. I was not a fan at all. Although it wasn't bad it wasn't anywhere as good as a real cupcake from any bakery Ive ever been to. I might actually prefer a cupcake from Walmart Yikes!
Supposedly their doughnuts are way better and they have these biscuits they fill with yogurt and jam and stuff which are suppose to be great. I definitely wont be making a special trip but if i happen to walk by ill try a doughnut.

Best pizza in New York, hands down. Located off Arthur Ave in the Bronx in Little Italy.The crust is delicious -- the semolina adds an unusual quality to the texture. It was crispy and thin and doughy all at the same time. A texture i have not experienced before. They have a huge selection of speciality pies. Maybe 5 different Sicilians! Being in the heart of Arthur Ave you know the ingredients are the best in the 5 Burroughs. But for this excellence there comes a price. Slices are around $4-5 each. The most expensive pizza I think I have found. But I will be back ASAP its worth it. Ill have to snap a few more pics next time. I actually thought this was better then Lombardi's and Grimaldi's.  Maybe it was just a lucky day but man that slice was perfect.

Eataly, the largest artisanal Italian food and wine marketplace in the world, is finally here in New York. Mario Batali finally opened his 50,000sq foot food temple in the heart of Flatiron. Located right next to Madison Square Park, Eataly takes up nearly an entire city block. This cultural experience is housing close to 10 restaurants, a beer garden on the 15th floor, grocery store, a bank, and a school just to name a few. Having an individual restaurant for each section (meat, cheese,wine,dry goods,produce,dessert,bread,pasta, fish, pizza, housewares, etc.) Shopping is very confusing and this place is packed which makes it even harder. You pay for your meat in the meat section and then go to the cheese section and pay there. Its ridiculous to think you would pay 5-10 different times to do your grocery shopping. The fish restaurant is with the fish and the pasta restaurant with the fresh handmade pasta. The goal at Eataly is to have the best most authentic Italian food available. Everything that isn't imported direct from Italy is made fresh by hand in front of you. Fresh handmade mozzarella made right before your eyes. It really is bringing food and shopping to the next level. The level of freshness and quality is unmatched. It is on the expensive side which makes sense being a trendy top of the line new grocery store in Manhattan. This place is definitely worth checking out, its crazy! Mario Batali recently described his imported food hall Eataly as a "temple," as a place where "food is more sacred than commerce." Take one step inside and you will understand. This is a destination not just a market.
