Go for the clams, then stay for more clams. Mostly though i'd say, go for the "Fried whole belly clams"! Beautiful light batter dipped and  fried. My favorite celebrity chef Chris Cosentino picked this on the TV show The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Crunchy). Mmmmmmm..Clammms.Ok then after that you can try the clam Chowda, clam cakes, baked clams, stuffed clams, clams casino, and clams on a stick, raw clams and clam ala mode for dessert. Well maybe not but it sounds like it should be on the menu. A bit steep of a price for something they dug out of the ocean across the street, but still...we're talking about tasty tasty clams here. It would be a clamity if you don't go back for more. Mmmmmmmm.Clamity. Their clamcakes were awesome. Perfect for dipping in tarter sauce.

Sweet Sue's is located in the quiet mountain town of Phoenicia. Even though they are located in the middle of nowhere expect a line out the door on weekend mornings. They make the most delicious pancakes ever and the portions are huge! I always end up taking my leftovers home.  My personal favorite is the red monkey pancakes with strawberries & bananas. Their french toast is equally amazing. This is like top secret breakfast paradise. Anyone that is in the know knows Sweet Sue's is the place to be for breakfast. Worth the drive from an hr away any day. Fruit piled high and with so many different kinds of pancakes available you wont know what to order.

Continuing on my across NY hot dog journey I came across yet another historic hot dog joint in lovely Newburgh. Tony's lunch, sitting in the not so good part of town, (if there is such a thing in Newburgh) reminds me totally of Famous Lunch in Troy. Weird? Hot dogs grilling in the window bar stools line the counter. This place looks like its been around forever. But I am not here for the hot dogs. I am here for the Tom Tom Patty Melt. The Tom Tom includes a hamburger, Texas sauce, bacon and onions, all inside a grilled cheese sandwich. Let me tell you it was well worth the trip. The hot dogs weren't so bad either. The Tom Tom is a masterpiece of deliciousness. It is probably pretty good at clogging your arteries and killing you from the inside out but man does this thing taste good. Its definitely worth checking out. Tony's lunch is a little run down hole in the wall so you might feel kinda uncomfortable. I cant wait to go back.

Newport creamery is a New England institution. Their most famous item is the Awful Awful. A milkshake that is Awful Big and Awful Good. I saw some people walking around holding cups that said Awful on them and thought that is strange. Looked it up online and found out the Newport Creamery is the place to get your ice cream fix in Rhode Island. This place had some serious nostalgia. The creamery is trapped in time. Like walking straight into the 50's it was pretty cool. Awful Awfuls are good kinda between a milkshake and a blizzard. Stop by and get a cold treat.

Farmstead consists of 3 different restaurants in Providence Rhode Island. Farmstead, La Laiterie and Farmstead Downcity. They all use local/organic highest quality artisan cheeses, meats, and breads. Farmstead is creating a buzz in the Providence food scene and chef/owner Matt Jennings is near celebrity status. At first glance I could have been in Manhattan. Stinky cheese and meats hanging from the ceiling. These guys are legitimate cheesemongers. I grabbed a grilled cheese with caramelized onions to go. On my weekend trip to Rhode Island I must have stopped at five restaurants from TV shows. Not only was this the best thing I ate all weekend but this was the best grilled cheese I have ever had. Previously the ultimate grilled cheese came from Rubiners Cheesemongers in Great Barrington MA. Farmstead was even better! The gooey string melted artisan cheese coming of of the crusty bread with the caramelized onions, Just Divine. They are also known for their blue cheese cookies. Unfortunately they didn't have any when I was there but maybe they'll have them when you go there. Great place to pick up some cheese and sandwiches. La Laiterie is a fancier sit down restaurant specializing in seasonal local produce and ingredients.

Hooper's-MD

Every Summer for 9 years I spent my vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. Relaxing and cruising the strip. Ocean city is like the Jersey Shore except way nicer i mean WAY nicer!. I missed Ocean City this summer because I got married instead, but it is surely missed and I cant wait to bring my son on family vacation some day. We would always spend one night at Hooper's. Maybe it wasn't the best seafood on the strip but it was probably the funniest seafood anywhere. Also it's right on the water so its perfect at night.

We go here for one reason ~ The All You Can Eat feast. Yes the FEAST. We are usually here for 2-3 hours.  So you better like crabs because they come by the table full.

The FEAST Includes:
Hush puppies, fried clam strips, Fried chicken, BBQ Ribs, CRABS!!!, Steamed shrimp, corn on the cob, bread, and Fries.

Although everything is tempting, wait for them to bring out the crabs. They keep bringing anything you want out and just dump it on the table. If you have had crab this way before you know it takes a long time to get thru a dozen. So a few dozen can definitely take 2hrs or more.

Enjoy the burn as you cut your fingers and they soak in Old Bay.  PERFECT! HAHA

You have to do Beer with Crabs, you just have to.

SO, head to the HUGE barn looking thing on your left before the bridge or on your right after the bridge.

Are there better crabs out there? Ya, but  this is the place for a full package of fun!

Total carnage!

The only picture I have of the AFTERMATH!!!!!

Allow me to shout it from the rooftops: I LOVE TUBULAR MEAT! The typical Texas wiener eater wouldn't really think about how they change region to region. But dig alittle deeper and you find out that different parts of the country have their own traditions and hot dog styles. Its quite strange how different these dogs can be from area to area. The NY coney, Carolina slaw dogs, Chicago style with pickles and tomato's, NJ deep fried, Michigan with spaghetti sauce, or even weirder are the Troy NY mini dogs. Well some where down the line some people from NY moved to Providence Rhode Island and opened a hotdog place called
Olneyville New York System. These are the closet dogs I have found to Dallas in Kingston. The sauce is less spicy and more salty but really close. The RI hodog is a shorter (4in) and fatter dog then we are used to in NY and they garnish with meat sauce, onions, and celery salt. The sauce is much more of a ground beef then you would be familiar with in the NY-NJ area. These hot dog shops are typically called Greek or owned by people of Greek decent which I didn't get at first but I found out the typical meat sauce found on a Texas wiener is based on Greek Tomato sauce. Texas hots as we know them were majorly influenced by the Greeks a 100yrs ago, I never would have thought.
These dogs were really good. I would love to go back. I will admit it, Olneyville's wieners are not my personal favorites I actually prefer Dallas locally for a Texas style dog. You cant mess with history and this place has a ton. They have a huge Rhode Island following that will keep this place in the history books as the King of Rhode Island Dogs!
