All the way at the end of City Island, Johnny’s Famous Reef Restaurant has drawn crowds since 1950's serving cafeteria-style boardwalk eats. Get in line for steamed or fried lobster, shrimp, clams, oysters or an assortment of fish piled on top of a mountain of fries. They even have frogs’ legs. Once you’ve chosen, chow down outside as you watch the boats sail by on the Long Island Sound. It sure isn't fancy but it sure is good. I got the soft shell crabs and some raw clams. I love fried seafood. The calamari was outrageous also super huge tentacles lol. City island seems like a cool escape from the hustle of the city. Check it out.

After all these years, I finally included a trip to Coney Island in my visit to New York City. Everyone should get a Nathan's famous hot dog at the original location at Surf & Stillwell in Coney Island once in their life. It's a piece of history since 1916 and a very good hot dog! You take the train for an hour from Manhattan... only to find out there is nothing at Coney Island, except for Nathan's, the Wonder Wheel, and the Cyclone. And freaks. And a beach filled with trash and syringes. Nathan's is so delicious! It is an excellent hot dog, with excellent fries, and this original Coney Island location just adds so much feeling to it! If you happen to be at Coney Island, Nathan's is a MUST! But if you are in Manhattan, think long before you get on that hour-long subway ride: how much do you love hot dogs? Your local Nathan's at the mall or wherever is not the same!!! Nathans 2nd store in Yonkers NY does serve a better hotdog if you ask me but I think thats because they have a fixings bar where you can put your own onions and kraut on.

Australian meat pie is an iconic part of Australian cuisine, right up there with Shrimp on the barbie lol. A few shops have popped up in the NYC area including DUB (Down Under Bakery) Pies in Windsor Terrace. Steak and cheese, shepherds, mince meat, breakfast or dessert pies are on the menu. They are little personal size whole pies that fit in your hand nice. The pies, were warm, flaky and tasted pretty good. Alittle greasy but filling and dense. I loved it. It was a cute little shop and would def go back. I love the name too.

Was walking thru Saratoga and totally fell upon this place. They had someone in a cupcake suit standing outside passing out coupons. So we find it downstairs in alittle sort of indoor shopping area. Place is super cute and retro. I guess they have a bad ass double decker cupcake bus that cruises around Troy Albany area. Well The cupcakes were horrid. Not only were they expensive they tasted like i got them at Hannaford for a 4yr old birthday party. The large cupcake was like $4.50 are you kidding me. Ive been to cupcake places all over the country and this rates last on taste. I got a few bite size ones for $1.50 a pop. I got a doggy cupcake for my puppy. Maybe i caught them on a bad day. Even if i was in Saratoga and wanted a cupcake I wouldn't go here.

Anyone going to Philly needs to go to Pat's and Geno's. The battle between Philadelphia's best cheese steak has been going on for centuries. Pick your sides. They are right across the street from each other. Get one from each. Cheese wit please!!!

I tried Pat's first. Geno's is much flashier then Pat's like Las Vegas Flashy. I waited about 5 minutes before I got my sandwich at both places. Make sure you order correct or they will be rude and yell at you and make you feel dumb. Pick your cheese and then wit or wit out onions. Yes I said WIT

I thought I had tasted cheese steak heaven...until I walked across the street an had a Philly from Geno's.

Pat's chops up there meat and Geno's has full lengh slices. They were basically the same even down to the wrappers and cups. Def came from the same distributor. Owell I cant wait to go back.

So to sum it up...if you go to Philly, go to Geno's and have a sandwich. Then go to Pat's and have another sandwich. You'll be happy you did and you'll get to pick a side in the never ending Philly cheese steak battle.

If you're looking to get out of the sandwhich and burger rut for lunch stop into the Sansom Street Oyster house. The food is top notch and the service at the bar is fast and friendly. It's local lunchspot for many lawyers and other downtown professionals. Got to love any place that has a raw bar. Cant beat freshly shucked oysters or clams. Had the oyster soup and it was good and creamy but was basicly creamy Old Bay. My brother had a burger that looked good. Oysters can be expensive but raw with some cocktail sauce they cant be beat.

After seeing their Sweet and Salty brownies, on The Best Thing I  Ever Ate,  I def wanted to try Baked out. I never actually thought I would make it over there, because I never make it to Brooklyn. I also was intrigued, by Baked, because they have another shop In Charleston SC, which I am obsessed with.  So I finally made time for a Brooklyn food tour. First off, not being from Brooklyn, Baked seems extremely far out of the way, in some kind of warehouse district of Red Hook. Walked for miles. Cute little coffee shop. Picked up some salty brownies. They were really good. You could actually feel the crunch of the salt crystals as you bit into it but it wasn't overly salty at all. They have an explosion of carmel in the middle yum!!! Cant wait to go to the Charleston spot next time I'm in SC. Check baked out on Throwdown this WEDS!!!!

Katz's is one of those places that you only have to try once in your lifetime. A New York classic that's been featured in movies like Enchanted, When Harry Met Sally, Across the Universe, and Donnie Brasco.
Yes the pastrami and corned beef are EXCELLENT, yes the Rye bread is fluffy and the homemade Russian dressing is great - but can you honestly say for $14 its worth it. I was so sad after leaving Katz. Everyone raves about the huge sandwich's and how its the best corned beef/pastrami in the world..OK OK maybe it was the best Pastrami I can remember eating but I was still hungry after I ate it. My sandwich was no more then a 1/2 lb of meat. You also get a whole plate of pickles which were really good and you get alot surprisingly. They have their own bottled ice tea and that was good too. I really have no reason to go back. It was cool checking out a piece of history Katz opened in 1888( NYs oldest deli). It is good food and worth checking out. But be prepared to be ripped off by NYC history once again.

Self-taught siblings Rick and Michael Mast (the only cocoa bean-to-bar chocolate makers in NYC) have mastered the Cocao bean and brought us the fruits of their labor. True dark chocolate hand made. Hell the beans are even smashed by hand. They have the beans sailed up the east river from Venezuela, Madagascar, and Ecuador. That's a long sail boat ride. To make this the most Eco Green friendly chocolate in the world. Their bars all over NYC and a few places outside the city. The bars are wrapped in the most beautiful paper and foils probably the highest quality package for anything i have ever seen how can you not buy it? For a true chocoholic this is a must. I cant even eat 1/4 of 1 bar its so dark.

Check it out if you want some legit chocolate. They have all sorts of different kinds of bars with olive oil, sea salt, nuts or coco nibs.

Stopped in here on my trip to Charleston SC after hearing about them on TV. It was a cute little shop typical for any cupcake bakery. They had a few diff kinds and we grabbed some to go. Cupcake is located on King St. which is the central shopping area of Charleston and in my opinion the best street in the whole city. Alot of higher end stores and restaurants. But anyways the cupcakes were average. Ive had worse Ive had better. If your craving a cuppy in South Carolina they have the goods.  I say these are better then Magnolia (most everywhere is) but not as good as Crumbs. Crumbs still reins supreme.

Shady Glen Dairy-CT

Shady Glen Dairy
840 Middle Tpke E
ManchesterCT 06040

Lets just say it wasn't the best thing I ever ate but it is pretty amazing.  I did like the decor of the place though probably the most authentic old school ice cream burger place I have ever been. It is really layed out weird just like they used to be. All the waitresses stay in the middle and everything is cooked in the middle and you sit around the outside. They are still wearing the old outfits with the paper hats.

Although this fine old dairy bar has a menu of sandwiches and hot meals and is justly famous for its homemade ice cream, its  cheeseburgers are nothing short of spectacular. Four slices of cheese extend far beyond the edges of the burger as it cooks, so the cheese melts directly onto the surface of the grill. The hamburger with its soft cheese on top and its halo of textured crisp cheese all around is one memorable sandwich! They also have all the homemade ice cream you could ever wish for!
