I was introduced to a new level of coffee snobbery / artistry in Brooklyn- Blue Bottle. Blue Bottle was by far the best coffee I'd had ever anywhere. I was psyched after an afternoon of brunching and shopping in Williamsburg to find this Blue Bottle location! They have a whole bunch of spots in Cali. At Blue Bottle you not only pick what kind of coffee you want but how you want it brewed. French Press, Syphon, or drip.Capping off our hipster afternoon, we waited in line for a solid 20 mins, while I insisted that it would be worth the wait. Finally, a New Orleans iced coffee in hand, we walked to a counter and sipped. Amazingness. Unlike any coffee I have had before rich, slightly sweet and creamy. Thinking about it makes my mouth water. Mmm. Treats here are good too but honestly just the coffee here makes it worth it. My wife and I often talk about driving 2hrs each way just for this cup of coffee. If you haven't been here, go now!!

Featuring bite-sized cupcakes in both traditional and unique flavors, Kumquat offers a rotating flavor selection. I tried the maple bacon cupcake a few months ago, and it was deeee-lish! Hmm, what would I try this time? It was a difficult decision, but in the end, I picked the Peanut Butter Banana Honey. Consisting of banana cake topped with peanut butter frosting and drizzled with honey, this bite-size treat was moist, flavorful and disappeared all too quickly. Most flavors are only a dollar each and the bacon maple is $2.The cupcakes are small enough that you can sample several flavors, but I had more eating to do that day. However, I'd love to return to the Kumquat table to try some other interesting combinations, such as coffee caramel bourbon, lemon & lavender, and chocolate orange. I'll be back...Yummilicious bite-sized treats in Brooklyn! Check them at Smorgasburg or the Brooklyn Flea.

As a child, I used to wonder what it would be like to eat a cloud. I eventually came to find out that clouds are neither edible nor are they a home for a group of enchanted colored bears that fire magic beams of love and happiness out of their gut.

The doughnuts I ate from Dough are the closest I could get. It is the softest, most wonderful ring of sweet yeasty goodness I have ever eaten. The passion fruit with coco nibs haunts my taste buds in the middle of the night and the blood orange makes you wonder how the hell anything else passes for a doughnut. After eating one of these you'll be firing beams of love and happiness from your tummy. The passionfruit donut I had was nothing short of a religious experience. These doughnuts are huge and I was able to get them still warm at Smorgasburg. They simply melted away in my mouth. Its really a hard thing to say but I think these are better then Doughnut Plant!!!
