Supposedly Rutt's Hutt is a New Jersey tradition/ institution. I made the journey to taste their deep fried hot dogs they call rippers. They are called rippers because the casing of the hot dog cracks/rips as it cooks in the oil. They offer no chili or meat sauce and the only toppings they have are cheese whiz, mustard, and relish. People in Jersey really have this all wrong. This place sucks. Ive had deep fried hot dogs before which are to die for (Crif Dogs) and these were nothing to brag about. I will not be going back. So disappointing.

After watching the Wafels & Dinges episode on Throwdown with Bobby Flay, I have been wanting to try their waffles. They looked absolutely delicious through my tv screen. I tried the liege waffle with spekuloos. Speckuloos is a Belgium gingerbread cookie that they turn into a spread like peantbutter. It sounds strange at first but after 1 bite you will be hooked. I bought a jar and want more. They have bananas, strawberries, nutella, speckulos, and even pulled pork wafels. They have a few different kinds of waffels also to choose from. Defiantly the best wafels around. They tweet their locations daily so try to catch them if you can.

After having watched a foodie program on the Travel Channel or was it the Food Network? Or was it an episode of MAN VS FOOD? Anthony Bourdain? Whatever show it was, CRIF DOGS was featured and all I remember was drooling on myself.
Crif Dog's menu essentially works by combining every single delicious ingredient in the world into the space between two sides of a hot dog bun and then adding Bacon and deep frying it. It was perfect. The deep fryer really made the bacon crunchy almost like the casing of the hot dog. Super delicious and crazy combinations make this place a must go. Also the secret speak easy in the phone booth called PDT but ill tell you about that later. I had a spicy redneck and a chihuahua. Might be the best hotdog I have ever had. Super Duper Weenie in Ct still places at the top this might be a tie.

A FEW EXAMPLES
- The Crif Dog - Pork & Beef dog anyway you like it.
- The New Yorker - all beef Frankfurter anyway you like it.

- The Chihuahua - Bacon wrapped with avocado & sour cream
- The Philly Tube Steak Dog - with melted cheese and onions
- Jon Jon Deragon - cream cheese, scallions and everything bagel seeds
- TSUNAMI - Bacon wrapped with teriyaki, pineapple and green onions

- Spicy Redneck- house dog, bacon wrapped, chili, coleslaw, jalepenos
- Morning Jersey- Taylor ham, cheese, fried egg

Secret entrance to PDT
PDT( Please Don't Tell) is a top secret speak easy bar hitting the NYC scene hard. The only way to get in is to make reservations via the phone at 3pm. Expect the phone to be busy but keep calling. They usually sell out the night by 3:30. They only allow a small number of people to keep the atmosphere nice and because of this expect things to get pricey.  You have to enter thru the phone booth at Crif Dogs. When you pick up the phone someone will ask you for your reservations and a secret door will open in the phone booth. Good luck

Brooklyn Brine-NY

Brooklyn Brine is a labor of love with a simple mission: damn fine pickles. Indeed. Mouth-watering seasonal delights are created with the aid of local, organic produce, carefully chosen spices, and spot on recipes. Taste their Hot Heirloom Cucumbers, made from a variety of diverse cucumbers mingled with seasonings like dill and chili peppers. There is also a Curried Squash, Minted Eggplant, NYC Deli Style Cucumbers, Rye Whiskey Sour pickles, and Lavender Carrots. With Brooklyn Brine now on the scene, you can safely stow away whatever notion of soggy, mass-produced tasteless pickles and go for something worth biting into. I still like McClures better then these. Ive been trying all the spicy pickles I can get my hands on lately.

You can pick up your Brooklyn Brine at a few places in the Hudson Valley and all over Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Saw this on Rachael Ray and decided to stop on my leaf peeping expedition to Vermont. Just another road side farm stand. Apples, pies, jams, flowers, maple syrup, typical stuff. Brought home an apple pie that was pretty darn good. Had a nice day driving thru Bennington and Manchester.  Stop buy and get some cider and a doughnut and enjoy a fall day.

Brook's is an upstate NY institution. Bringing their chicken all across New England i'm sure you have seen the signs at your local church or firehouse. Ive been going to Brook's since I was a child with my family. It was always something special I associated with fall and Cooperstown. It is a special place I hold in my heart. I was reading reviews online and alot of people where complaining this wasn't good bbq. Well if you ask me Brook's doesn't serve bbq chicken. Their sauce is vinegar based and tangy and tart almost citrus I cant even explain. It is so unique and so addictive. They do not serve that redish brown slop you get at texas road house. They have the biggest grill on the east coast and you can order chickens 100 at a time. Expect at least a 30min line on weekends. My favorite thing to do is drive my car around back and put my windows down right in front of the pit. The smoke pouring into my car makes me salivate. The ride out to Oneonta is nice especially in the fall. Make a day out of it you wont regret it.

Not your average cupcakery. Butter Lane is more sophisticated with gourmet ingredients for adults. Salty carmel popcorn cupcake anyone? First you pick what kind of cake you want then you pick what kind of frosting you would like and then pick your toppings. Trust me there are alot of options.

I tried the banana cake with peanut butter frosting and marshmallows on top. It was definitely amazing
Also tried the vanilla with coconut frosting which seemed alittle sugary and overly coconut.

This was probably my 2nd favorite cupcake shop ever. Behind Crumbs. But Crumbs are giant softballs. Butter Lane is small cupcakes like your mom used to make.

Dear Jesus,
When I get to heaven please provide me a cabin of waffles. If it is not too much trouble, please put it in the middle of a ski mountain, right on the slope so I can ski up to it. Please make the waffles fresh with caramelized sugar and serve them with some hot cocoa to warm my chilled hands. Amen

There are many Waffle Cabins located all over  mountains located in Vermont, and a few in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York. Check the site for all locations. Also sometimes they are called Waffle Haus same chain same thing.

If you haven't been to a Waffle Cabin, you don't know what you're missing out on.  Be sure to order a waffle which has caramelized pearl sugar.. It's so delicious!!!! And if you like chocolate, add the chocolate topping (which is basically chocolate syrup) for an additional $.50.. Yum!! When you get within the vicinity, you can smell the distinct aroma of the waffles cooking in the Belgian waffle maker. Get yourself some hot coco and ski off into heaven. Thank you lord my prayers have been answered

I never thought I would make it to Buttermilk Channel but recently decided to take a day and explore Brooklyn with my Fiance (at the time now wife). So I made it a priority to stop in and get some chicken and cheddar waffles. It was a Sunday afternoon and they were packed for brunch. Waited maybe 10mins. This place is super hip with a southern flare. I was probably the least dressed up in a tshirt and shorts but it wasn't a problem.  The food was great and this was such a cool place to hang out. They serve their house made pickles with almost everything and they were killer good. I ordered a burger and it was probably top 2 burgers I have ever had hands down. It was super rare and juicy. Steph got an apple and bacon grilled cheese. Both were excellent. I would not hesitate to go back. Next time I'm getting the pickle appetizer those were tasty. The chicken and waffles were sold out but this is what it looks like.
